Welcome to the Isle of Dogs Bangladeshi Association & Cultural Centre (IoDBACC)
Established in 1985, the Isle of Dogs Bangladeshi Association & Cultural Centre (IoDBACC) has been serving the community for almost forty years. Born from the vision of supporting the growing Bangladeshi population in Docklands, we have grown into a trusted and inclusive hub for local residents of all backgrounds.
As the only dedicated Bangladeshi-led organisation in the area with a fully operational community office, we are proud to provide a wide range of cultural, educational, social, and welfare-based services. From advice sessions and after-school projects to women’s and youth programmes, our aim is to create a safe, welcoming environment where people of all ages feel supported, empowered, and connected.
Recognised for Our Impact
- Best After School Project – awarded by Tower Hamlets Council (2009)
- Best Tutor Award – presented to one of our teaching staff by Tower Hamlets Council (2010)
- MBE for Services to the Community – awarded to our long-standing Coordinator, Emdad Talukder, by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 2019, for outstanding contributions to fostering, community development, and youth empowerment
Our legacy is built on trust, cultural pride, and commitment to inclusion. As we look ahead, our focus remains on reducing barriers, creating opportunities, and strengthening the bonds that bring our diverse community together.
We welcome you to join us – whether by taking part in our projects, volunteering your time, or simply visiting our Centre. Together, we can continue to build a brighter, stronger future for generations to come.
With warm regards,
